MONROVIA-NOVEMBER 3, 2025: The Ministry of Health (MOH) says it is deeply saddened by a fatal road accident that claimed the lives of two of its staff members from the National Leprosy and Tuberculosis Control Program (NLTCP).

According to a press statement issued on Saturday, November 1, 2025, the tragic incident occurred on Friday along the Bong County highway as the team was returning to Monrovia from a three-day Annual TB Review Meeting held in Nimba County.

The victims, identified as Mr. George Clay, Administrative Assistant, and Mr. Augustus Wille, TB/HIV Focal Point were described by the Ministry as dedicated public health professionals who served the Liberian people with passion and integrity.

The Ministry expressed that their deaths have left colleagues, friends, and family members in deep sorrow, noting that their passing represents a painful loss not only to their families but to the entire health sector of Liberia.

Four other team members Omeme Wesley, Efelia Flomo, Michel Amora and Siaffa Kromah survived the crash and are currently receiving medical treatment and psychosocial support as part of their recovery process.

“The Ministry extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, and stands in solidarity with the survivors,” the statement noted.

Authorities at the Ministry further disclosed that arrangements are underway to provide assistance to the affected families, while details regarding memorial and funeral rites will be announced later.

The public is being urged to keep the grieving families and recovering staff in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult period.
