Citizens of Gbiabo Town in Karluway District #3, Maryland County, are poised to benefit from the construction of a modern primary school during the upcoming dry season, as part of Senator J. Gblabo Brown’s continuous efforts to promote education and community development across the county.
According to Mr. Paul Nimpson, Home Office Coordinator for Senator Brown, all necessary materials for the project have been secured and are awaiting the start of the dry season to commence construction.
Mr. Nimpson disclosed that the Senator has already donated thirteen (13) bundles of zinc toward the project during his visit to the town and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education in rural communities.
“Education remains a top priority for Senator Brown,” Nimpson said. “He believes every child deserves to learn in a safe and decent environment. The materials are ready, and as soon as the dry season begins, work will start immediately.”
The upcoming primary school project is expected to ease the educational challenges faced by children in Gbiabo and nearby towns, where access to learning facilities has been limited. Currently, many students are learning under palava hall and church building, which they said isn’t conducive for learning in this 21st century.
Meanwhile, other development projects initiated by Senator Brown are advancing across Maryland County. In Manulo Town, Karluway District #2, the construction of a town hall is nearing completion, with work almost at the roofing stage. In Barrobo Community, Harper District, another town hall is under construction, while a modern bus stop for Tubman University students has already been completed to be turned over for public use.
Community members in Gbiabo have expressed gratitude to Senator Brown for his intervention, promising to provide local labor and support to ensure the project’s timely completion.
According to them, the senator has since broken ground for the construction of the primary school during his country tour in early January 2025.
“This is a blessing for our children,” remarked a Gbiabo elder. “For years, we have prayed for a proper school in our town. We thank Senator Brown for remembering us.”
With the dry season approaching, residents remain optimistic that work will soon begin, marking another significant step toward improving education and community life in Maryland County.
