MONROVIA–In a strongly worded statement issued late Thursday, group of renowned lawyers has described as false, unfounded and deeply regrettable a story published by Front Page Africa online publication   on October 8, 2025, alleging that Cllr. F. Juah Lawson was delinquent and lazy to enforce a court’s judgement rendered against the John F. Medical Center recently.

Not only that, but the story alleged that she was deliberately obstructive in the enforcement of a court’s order. (The paper did not provide details on it). That these allegations are entirely false, unfounded, and deeply regrettable.

The statement signed by Cllr. Justice M. Wilkins Wright, Cllr. Joseph P. Gibson of Wright & Associates, and Cllr.  Ebenizar Z. Gibson, of the Dean and Associate law firm, was released by The Renaissance Law Group, Inc.

It said, the story reported by the paper grossly misrepresents their “exceptional effort” in the case of Madam Karen Sehkehporh versus The John F. Kennedy Medical Center.

Refuting the allegations, the statement provided background of the case in which they made both   financial and professional sacrifices.

All these efforts made, the statement said was  to ensure that justice is both pursued and made accessible.

“From the commencement of this case through to the Honorable Supreme Court of Liberia, where final judgment was rendered, our team has borne all legal expenses without hesitation or reservation. Our commitment to Madam Sehkehporh’s cause has been unwavering and continues to this day.”

The coalition of lawyers said that “It is imperative to clarify that neither I (Cllr. F. Juah Lawson) nor any member of our firm or the professional and dedicated lawyers who pursued the cause of justice for Madam Sehkehporh, possess statutory enforcement powers. The execution of court judgments falls exclusively within the mandate of the relevant state authorities. Notwithstanding this limitation, we have remained fully engaged with the courts to secure assignments for the enforcement of the judgment and have maintained active communication with both the John F. Kennedy Medical Center (JFK) and the Ministry of Justice regarding compliance. All to Madam Sehkehporh’s full knowledge as she has been physically present at these engagements.”

“The JFK Medical Center has advised that the judgment has been transmitted to the Ministry of Justice for onward submission to the President of the Republic of Liberia. Upon approval, the matter will be forwarded to the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning for payment under Domestic Debts,” it continued.

“It is worth noting that this process has been clearly and repeatedly explained to Madam Karen Sehkehporh, both by her legal counsel and by the Honorable Judge presiding over the matter.

“We nonetheless continue to pursue enforcement directly with JFK, as the judgment is against that institution. Pursuant to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center Act of 2013, the Center was reconstituted as an autonomous agency, independent of direct governmental control. The same Act expressly provides that the institution “may sue and be sued, plead or be impleaded, in its own name” (Chapter 60, §60.2, New Executive Law as Amended 2013).”

The statement continues; “We empathize deeply with Madam Sehkehporh and acknowledge the frustration and distress that delays in enforcement may cause. However, the narrative currently being circulated in certain media outlets is inaccurate, misleading, and injurious. It seeks to malign the integrity of counsels who have worked diligently and selflessly to advance the cause of justice in this matter.

Justice cannot thrive on distortion. It is sustained by collaboration, sacrifice, and adherence to truth. We remain firmly committed to these principles and to the pursuit of justice for all clients who entrust their causes to our care.”

The statement concluded; “We extend our sincere appreciation to all who have continued to express confidence and support in the face of these unfounded allegations.”
