Monrovia-November 27, 2025: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has constituted an Ad Hoc Committee to oversee the process of recruiting a new Vice Executive Chairperson for the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), following the vacancy in the position.

The move, announced from the Executive Mansion, is in accordance with Section 6.10 of the Amended LACC Act of 2022, which prescribes the procedure for the recruitment and recommendation of candidates to this key leadership role within the country’s foremost anti-graft institution.

The Committee will be chaired by the President’s Legal Advisor, Cllr. Bushuben M. Keita, and will comprise representatives from several critical governance and accountability institutions. These include the General Auditing Commission (GAC), Governance Commission (GC), Liberia Bar Association (LBA), Press Union of Liberia (PUL), Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA), a civil society anti-corruption advocate, and a member of the international donor community providing technical assistance in anti-corruption efforts.

According to the mandate, once fully constituted, the Committee will initiate the recruitment process by publicly announcing a call for applications for the position. All publications will be carried out in strict compliance with the provisions of the LACC Act and the statutory requirements governing the vacant office.

The Committee is expected to evaluate all submitted applications within fifteen working days after the application deadline, placing strong emphasis on candidates with expertise in forensic accounting and auditing. Shortlisted applicants will then be subjected to interviews within thirty working days, while ensuring adherence to legal requirements on gender balance and fair county representation.

Following the completion of the vetting and interview process, the Committee will submit a list of two qualified candidates to the President for final consideration within thirty-five working days from the application closing date.

The formation of the Ad Hoc Committee underscores the Boakai administration’s stated commitment to transparency, accountability, and merit-based appointments, as part of broader efforts to strengthen Liberia’s anti-corruption architecture and restore public confidence in governance institutions.
