Monrovia-December 2, 2025: The Chairman of the Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND), Mulbah Morlu, has leveled serious accusations against Joseph Nyumah Boakai and the ruling Unity Party, alleging plans to divert public funds under the guise of raising money for the building of the party’s headquarters.

Addressing a press conference in Congo Town on Tuesday, Morlu alleged that the Unity Party is attempting to hide under the name of fundraising to take a huge sum of money from the national coffers.

‎He claimed that members of the ruling establishment lack the willingness to use their own resources for the construction of the party headquarters. According to Morlu, Partisans of the Unity Party are not able to spend their own money to build their own headquarters but want to ride on government funds.

‎He also questioned the credibility of the reported US$2 million raised during a Unity Party rally in Bong County, suggesting that the amount was either inflated or funded secretly by government officials. “Either government officials themselves gave the money to the people, or it was not honestly raised,” he insisted.

‎Morlu used the press conference to rally support for STAND’s upcoming nationwide protest, themed “Lead or Leave.” He announced that protesters will gather on December 17 exclusively in front of the Executive Mansion, where they intend to present their petition directly to President Boakai.

‎“The protesters will not assemble anywhere else besides in front of the Executive Mansion,” he declared. He warned that any attempt by the government or security agencies to obstruct the assembly would be met with resistance.

‎The STAND chairman further accused President Boakai of equipping the police to kill innocent people, alleging a rise in police aggression against civilians.

‎He went on to claim that the president is intending to rig the 2029 elections, based on his lawless style of leadership. Morlu maintained that during the protest, protesters would remain in the streets until the president meet their demands.

‎As of press time, the Unity Party and the Office of the President have not issued an official response to Morlu’s allegations.

‎STAND’s planned protest is expected to draw national attention as the political climate heats up ahead of the 2029 electoral cycle.
