Monrovia-November 20, 2025: The bites for political supremacy and control of Bong County ahead of the 2029 electoral showdown are beginning to set in amongst politicians – those having interest to throw their hats into the race, either for the national legislature or the presidency.

But the crescendo of what could be a toxic political showdown is being displayed by Senator Prince K. Moye of the Unity Party and Representative Musa Bility of the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC).

The atmosphere between the two lawmakers – representing Bong County as a whole, and the other representing Nimba County 7th District – is tensed, and analysts sensed it could get worse in months to come as preparations for the 2029 elections gain momentum.

Moye, a long time Senator of Bong County is likely to face serious challenge from Representative Melvin Cole, who is said to be aspiring for the Senatorial seat on the ticket of the CMC in 2029.

The tension which has reportedly reached boiling point stemmed from Bility’s alleged failure to remit millions of dollars of taxes scooped from the management of the China Union Tank leased to him to the Liberian government.

Senator Moye took up the issue with Bility and accused of him defrauding the government of millions of dollars in taxes from the management of the Tank at the offices of the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company (LPRC).

Rep. Bility has since denied wrongdoing, insisting that he is not indebted to the government.

Since then, the sun has not set well between the two lawmakers. However, the issue is now being exacerbated in light of the government’s decision to deny Rep. Bility the opportunity to build a damaged bridge in the county, with Sen. Moye accusing Bility of attempting to build the bridge with the money he robbed the people of Bong County of through his failure to pay taxes for the use of the Tank.

China Union is located in Bong Mines, lower Bong County.

Sen. Moye also accused Bility of masterminding past political failures and misappropriating funds intended for the county.

Speaking to reporters in Gbarnga, Senator Moye said Rep. Bility has a long record of destabilizing political processes and misleading politicians who trust his judgment.

“Musa Bility is on record for bringing 50 pickups in 2016, and Brumskine did not win the election,” Moye said, referencing Bility’s alleged involvement in the Liberty Party’s failed 2017 campaign efforts. “He is also on record for bringing Cummings’ numbers down in 2023.”

According to Senator Moye, lawmakers who rely on Bility’s political strategies are risking their careers. “I told my colleague not to dance to the tune of Bility. He does not see politically,” Moye stated.

The Senator further accused Rep. Bility of indirectly taking control of US$10 million that he claims was withheld from Bong County by China Union under the Social Development Fund (SDF). “Bility indirectly collected the $10 million that China Union deprived Bong County of for social development, and he is trying to return some of the money,” he alleged.

Senator Moye said he intends to make a formal request demanding that Bility construct five additional bridges in the county as restitution.

“I will formally write him to construct five additional bridges in Bong. He stole the people’s money!” Moye declared.

Rep. Bility is yet to officially respond to the allegations, which have sparked heated discussions among residents and political observers in Bong County.
