-As Diaspora Liberian Concurs With PIT

A Diaspora Liberian, Chelle Noring has concurred with the portion of the Report by the technical committee of the Presidential Investigative Team, (PIT) in which the committee has recommended that the entire banknotes both new and old be replaced.

He said if not replaced such will create discrepancies that will promote more corruption. According to him it is possible that more of banknotes could be in the hands of so many wrong individuals even including those who have been arrested and some who are not named.

Following the submission of Kroll’s Report on the missing LD$16billions which did not actually affect the issue of the US$25 million intended by government to mop-up the Liberian economy as a result of escalation of the USD rate value against the Liberian Dollars, there was numerous calls by the public through radio talk shows and social media for the arrest of the Finance and Development Planning Minister and Governor of Central Bank.

This has prompted President George Weah to mandate the General Auditor Commission (GAC) to order an audit to substantiate how the US$25 million mop-up exercise was being carried out by those who were responsible.

Howbeit, information gathered by this medium indicates that since the President’s mandate for the GAC to carry on the audit according to an Executive Mansion release, there has not been a formal communication to the GAC by the President granting the power to begin the audit.

Another issue that was enshrined in the report of the Technical committee of the Presidential Investigative Team tasked with the responsibility to investigate the circumstances around the missing billions of the new banknotes, which has been ignored to date, is that the report recommended that all current Liberian banknotes both new and old be removed from the market and replaced.

However, in an exclusive interview with a diaspora Liberian a River Gee citizen residing in the United States of America Chelle Noring who claimed to be one of the founding members of the Unity Party, told this paper that the issue of the missing LD16billion coupled with the mop- up USD$25 million is creating tainted records and appearance on the Liberians everywhere especially in other foreign countries.

He also called on those who are calling for the arrest of the Finance Minister and the Bank Governor to wait for the GAC audit. He said in the absence of audit, the President will not have substantial proof to arrest the Finance Minister and the Bank Governor even if the public will feel that they are guilty in the absence of renewed audit.
