Education And You: School And Cinema Education-A New Project For Children

Societies Of Unity- A Non for Profit Organization Wants To Register Youth For A Creative World.

Creativity in a given profession that puts you at the top of it and to achieve it, much needs to be done either by training, former education or apprenticeship.

Empowering yourself is a key to making that move and one of such institution that has the ability to do so is “Societies of Unity” founded by Madam Assata Richards, young Liberian-Senegalese of age 29 who by profession is a film teacher.

Our “Education and You” captured young Richards who revealed her passion and determination to bring creativity to the educational sector of Liberia opening what she calls “creative world- the cinema school and industry in the heart of Liberia next year in April 2021.

This opportunity, according to her is going to benefit Two hundred (200) Liberian students to include both girls and boys ages ten to twenty one.

Expected beneficiaries trained to become screen writers, actors, and then make educational movies.

Indeed, in Liberia, where audiovisual and film education is almost absence in the school system, creative world program will allow children passionate about the seven art to join the structure for artistic practices and to find a center to live and acquire moral values, Scientifics and cultural experiences.

“Step by step, the first activity will be training, then the production and finally the distribution and promotion” the film teacher said adding that during six weeks programs at creative world, they will include an activity form that will provide the full intent of the full program.

She indicated that such form will be used by procedures to recruit candidates for activities needed to perform.

“We will track a monthly outcome evaluation demonstrating individual progress attending the program” explain Mr. Abdullah A. Sesay, Manager at Societies of Unity.

According to him, the project is to impact student’s lives with educational film program and increase youth engagement as a prerequisite to success.

He furthered, creative world is a subdivision of the Societies of unity, the local organization that is working since 2018 in Liberia, focusing to bring awareness that will empower young people by creating a mission street team which will help to tackle and build effective solution to socio economic and educational problems in the communities by using digital filmmaking and journalism.

According to the executives of the institution, it provides mentorship and leadership skills, adding that in May this year, the institution did her first survey in Todee and Zayzay communities, across Monrovia.

Join on line, Madam Richard member in United Nations social Group and Events, explain that the primary mission is to work with divers group of youth from local communities that have pass in bringing impact by using media technology to build youth development trough filmmaking, photographic skills.

The industry according to the institution’s executives, its goal is to empower youth to participate in long term program to earn educational credentials, improve their work readiness and live management skill needed to complete effectively in the job market.

“We will assist financially from elementary and high school for the student to receive an efficient education” says the Director of the program, Assata Richards at the institution.

She add that her plan is to teach and to empower young people to use visual to create a major impact world wild.

Madam Richards concluded by saying “Like this, the cinema school and industry will start the activities next year and Societies of Unity open to all who are interested in filmmaking and want to see Liberia’s  communities to develop.”
