The Liberia Maritime Authority and its agent, the Liberia Corporate Shipping Registry (LISCR), have jointly made a $54,000 cash donation towards mobilization efforts for the National Team’s upcoming AFCON 2023 Match against South Africa.
The check, which was handed over to the Head of Lone Star’s Mobilization Team, Commerce Minister, Mawine G. Diggs, by Maritime Commissioner, Eugene Lenn Nagbe, is part of the corporate social responsibilities of both the Liberia Maritime Authority and the Liberia Corporate Shipping Registry.
Commissioner Nagbe has lauded the endeavor of the mobilization team, which he said has helped galvanize support behind the Lone Star. He said he is confident of the team’s victory in Tuesday’s match
For his part, Chairman of LISCR Trust, Avi Zainderberg, wished the National Team well in their encounter, while expressing LISCR’s determination to continue their contributions to various national initiatives.
The joint donation is part of a campaign to ensure the team qualifies for the upcoming AFCON Tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
Minister Diggs, on behalf of the Mobilization Team, thanked the Heads of both Institutions for their support and promised to ensure that it goes towards the intended purpose. The Mobilization Chair expressed confidence that Liberia will qualify.
Liberia forced Bafana Bafana to a 2-2 draw in their away match in South Africa after being led for most of the game. This has risen the prospects of the team’s qualifying for the continent-wide event after being absent for two decades.
