Nukanah Kollie Wins Community Radio’s Gender Reporter Award

MONROVIA-JEA Communications Inc. Owners of Fortune Television Liberia Bong County Correspondent Nukanah Kollie has won the Radio’s Gender Report of the year award.

According to a communication dated February 7, 2023, the Association of Liberia Community Radio Stations and Internews informed Journalists Nukanah Kollie that he has won the Journalism Excellence Awards for the Gender Reporting category.

From ALICOR, the communication stated that the vetting committee comprising Internews, Liberia Broadcasting System, Female Journalists Association of Liberia, and the Press Union of Liberia set up to review the hundreds of applications received from across the Country, and Nukanah was considered as the best-preferred candidate for such category.

It can be recalled that early in December of 2022, ALICOR, in a Public Service announcement sought applications for its Journalism Excellence Awards in five categories including Health Reporting, Environmental Reporting, Gender and Human Rights reporting, and Agricultural reporting among others.

Meanwhile, Nukanah has been invited as a Guest of Honor to the 2023 World Radio Day Celebration in Ganta, Nimba County, scheduled for February 13-14, 2023.

At the occasion, he will be joined by his fellow honorees and award-winning Liberian Journalists and will receive the Gender Reporters 2023 awards.

Moreover, The awards will also be accompanied by impressive packages to enhance his reporting going forward.

Nukanah who has been doing exceptionally well in his professional duties for Fortune Television in Central Liberia as its Bong County correspondent is the doyen of the correspondent’s desk at Fortune Television Liberia.

According to the CEO, Julius Konton, journalist Kollie has always been on top of his game and the award did not come to him as a surprise.

He used the occasion to encourage other correspondents to do more and work harder in their respective Counties in order to be recognized like their colleagues.

He at the same time urged Journalist Kollie to see the award as a stepping stone and a challenge for him to do more.

Meanwhile, Nukanah Kollie also worked for Super Bongese Radio Station, one of the best stations in the county.
