LPDP, NPP, CDC Sign Framework Agreement

MONROVIA-The three political parties that organized the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change have finally signed the new framework agreement ahead of the October 10, Legislative and Presidential elections.

The Chairman of the Liberia People Democratic Party (LPDP), Moses Kollie,  the National Patriotic Party (NPP) Political Leader and Standard Bearer, Vice  President Jewel Howard Taylor as well as Mulbah  Morlu Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change signed for their respective political parties within the Coalition.

Pundits believe that the latest action by these political institutions has now paved a smooth path for the Coalition victory in the upcoming Presidential and Legislative Elections.

Speaking during the signing ceremony at the Coalition Headquarters recently, Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor expressed gratitude to the executive members and supporters for reaching such a vital decision as a coalition.

She urged the leadership to keep the promise by President George Weah to the Liberian People that the CDC will ensure forty percent of Women on the CDC   Ticket in the pending elections.

  1. Taylor said the CDC Chairman along with the primary committee when announced will work on the promise by President Weah.

Also speaking   NPP Chairman Emeritus, Cyril Allen, a member of the Executive Governance Council of the CDC said the committee did due-diligent to the framework agreement.

He noted that a new component of the agreement was included to address any disagreement that arises in the future if, unlike the previous agreement in 2017.

Mr. Allen said the Executive Governance Council of the Coalition for Democratic Change is comprised of one hundred members from the three political parties.

He further indicated that as other political parties joined the CDC there will be room for accommodation within the Executive Council.

Allen used the event to appreciate all of those members who work over the time to have the agreement signed.

Also speaking, the Chairman of LPDP Moses Kollie reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the Coalition.

According to him, it was demonstrated by the signing of the framework agreement by his executive committee.

For his part, the Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change in extension Coalition for Democratic Change Mulbah Morlu extolled the three leaders and all executives for such an agreement.

He committed the leadership to live up to the component inscribed in the agreement.
