Minister Kemayah Reiterates Liberia’s Commitment to Morocco

--As Morocco Commences Renovation Work On Sixth Floor of Ministry of Foreign Affairs

MONROVIA-The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador   Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., has reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Kingdom of Morocco in the interest of its citizens aimed at fostering African cooperation.

Minister Kemayah made these remarks on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, when a two-man Technical Team from the kingdom of Morocco presented to the Senior Management Team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Liberian Construction Company that will work with its Moroccan counterpart in the renovation of the sixth floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The acquaintance meeting was held in the Conference Room on the fourth floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two-man delegation from the Kingdom of Morocco included Mr. Baiz Mohameh Hicham, Advisor to the Director-General of the Morocco Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), and Mr. Belasri Abdelaziz, an engineer from GETB Engineering Company.

Earlier, Minister Kemayah on behalf of President George Manneh Weah welcomed the Technical Team from the Kingdom of Morocco to Liberia, noting that President Weah cherishes the peaceful co-existence and longstanding ties with the Kingdom of Morocco.

He told the Moroccan Delegation that as part of President Weah’s State of the Nation Address to the National Legislature, Minister kemayah informed the delegation that President Weah mentioned the renovation of the Sixth Floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a commitment from the Government and People of the Kingdom of Morocco, noting that Liberia looks forward to further strengthening ties with the Kingdom of Morocco in other areas of economic partnership.

The Dean of the Cabinet informed the Delegation that its presence in Liberia signifies the strong ties and corporation existing between the two countries but stressed that Liberia looks forward to more technical assistance from her Moroccan counterpart.

Minister Kemayah used the occasion to reemphasize the commitment from his counterpart H.E. Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco.

The Foreign Affairs Minister noted that the renovation work will further strengthen friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Liberia.

In brief remarks, the Head of the Technical Team from the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Hicham assured Minister Kemayah that he would endeavor to ensure that the renovation work meets the standard of the minister’s desire and will work with a Liberian Construction Company, the MDMC, headed by its General Manager, Mr. John S. Youboty to complete the renovation work on the sixth floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in time for the mutual good of the two sides.

He said the team will also work on the exterior of the building by painting it from the ground floor to the sixth floor.

Mr. Hicham recalled that Liberia and the Kingdom of Morocco have been present on many issues at technical levels, adding that both countries should now begin to explore other areas in which they could cooperate.
