“MOST NEC’S MAGISTRATES ARE CORRUPT”

… VP Taylor

MONROVIA-The Vice President of Liberia, Madam Jewel Howard Taylor could not mince her words in describing the corrupt nature of most Election Magistrates in the country.

Madam Taylor mentioned that the long stay of Magistrates in their various positions has immensely contributed to their corrupt practices.

She mentioned that such menace is unhealthy for the country’s democratic credentials thus calling for them to be rotated.

Speaking at the 8th Edition of the Arch-Bishop Michael K. Francis Intellectual Discourse in Monrovia recently, Madam Taylor disclosed that most of the Magistrates receive bribes from politicians which have made them compromised.

The discourse was organized under the theme, “Rising Insecurity, Misinformation, Money Politic and Efforts Diversion Treats to the 2023 Elections.

She revealed that the Magistrates also receive gifts in a bid to shift results in the favor of certain politicians.

The NPP Political leader then used the occasion to call NEC to immediately rotate their alleged corrupt magistrates in the country.

There have been qualms in the public space concerning the credibility and integrity of NEC’s Boss, Madam Davidetta Browne-Lassanah.

Elements from the opposition pointed accusing fingers at Madam Browne-Lassanah for awarding a bidding contract to an institution owned by her.

Owing to these claims, there is a dark cloud over her credibility of her to manage the affairs of the electoral body ahead of the impending Legislative and Presidential Election, slated to take place on October 10, 2023.

Pundits have frowned at the NEC’s Boss for fraudulently managing a questionable procurement process.

It has been reported in some quarters that Madam Browne-Lassanah awarded a contract, not in adherence to the Public Procurement Procedures of Liberia.

Without due regard to the merit system, she reportedly awarded a contract to LAXON to provide Biometric Voter’s Registration Materials during the just-ended Special Senatorial By-Election.
