Flomo Breaks Weah’s Record?

-Denies Him District#13 Seat

Political pundits are now saying from all indications that President George Weah ‘political record’, has been broken following the defeat of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in Montserrado County electoral district#13.

Prior to his ascendancy as president of the country, almost all of the representative and senatorial candidates that the CDC political leader held their hands in open political rallies and officially introduced them to the electorates had never missed out on being elected especially in Montserrado County, the ‘political base of the CDC.

The Congress for Democratic Change has won more senatorial and representative seats in Montserrado County, more than any single political party since 2005. However, people who were unknown prior to their matriculation into politics who were officially introduced by President Weah during political rallies won their various seats with ease.

Meanwhile, with the latest defeat in Montserrado County electoral district #13 where the Liberian leader overwhelmingly campaigned for the CDC’s candidate, John J. Weah, many political pundits believed that the president political record has been broken.

Others also believed the waves of controversial issues including the alleged missing LRD16 billion and hardship also played major roles in the defeat of the party in the district and that of Bong County in July 2018.

Although the CDC has produced Saah Joseph in the Montserrado County senatorial by-election and missed out on Bong County, but Saah Joseph was already a popular figure prior to the election after being elected on two occasions as Representative of that district.

But being cognizant of the formidable political forces in the country, President George Weah himself led an array of cdcians including senior government officials into the district on Saturday November 17, 2018 to rally citizens and cdcians in the district to maintain the moral of the party in Montserrado County.

Montserrado County remains the strong base of the governing CDC, a mantle the standard-bearer of the party, President George Weah has fought to maintain.

He recently said “Montserrado county is our base and I said no one will take Montserrado county from us. Opposition making mistakes and how can a country giant political party loose in this district and we must win this election. This is our time. In our time, no one wins anything. I said Saah Joseph would be the right candidate and you didn’t make me shame and I say thank you. You must be loyal to your party. We can make you win if you are disciplined, we can make you win. Even if you’re disabled, we can fight to make you,” he said.

The CDC has obtained more seats and more votes in Montserrado County since its inception as a political party in the county.
