Gbarn-la Town’s Only Public School Crumbles

Leaving Hundreds of Students Out of Class

As schools reopen across Liberia, hopes for education have been dashed for children in Gbarn-la Town, Electoral District #5, Bong County, where the only public school remains in a state of severe disrepair.
The community-built structure, which once accommodated over 500 students, is now deemed unsafe, leaving hundreds of children without access to formal education.
With a population of over 5,000, residents are calling on the Ministry of Education and Bong County authorities to urgently rehabilitate the school and restore learning opportunities. Local leaders describe the situation as disheartening, especially in the 21st century, where access to basic education should be a priority.
