The Mayor of the Monrovia City Corporation John-Charuk Siafa, on Wednesday September 10, met with the Foreign Minister of Rwanda in a mutual effort to strengthen bilateral relations between Monrovia and Kigali and to explore a deeper understanding of Kigali’s development module.
During a meeting at the Monrovia City Hall, Mayor Siafa welcomed the visiting Rwandan Foreign Minister and described the visit as a profound opportunity to solidify the existing relationship between Monrovia and Kigali.
The mayor advanced the need for Kigali and Monrovia to expand bilateral relations in areas that are mutually beneficial to both cities.
Mayor Siafa and the Rwandan Foreign Minister reiterated their commitment to promoting a knowledge exchange relationship aimed at learning from each other to address urban challenges and promote innovative solutions.
Mayor John-Charuk Siafa also used the forum to extoll the governments of Liberia and Rwanda for signing a Visa Waiver agreement which will enable citizens from both nations to travel freely without visa restrictions, further contributing to a noteworthy leap in enhancing trade and tourism.
In remarks, Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe, who is visiting Monrovia for the first time, intoned that Monrovia has massive potential for urban planning, something he said Rwanda is prepared to share experience with Liberia.
Minister Nduhungirehe disclosed that he’s currently visiting Monrovia to deepen bonds with the Liberian government including local government authorities.
Meanwhile, Minister Nduhungireheb has asked the Rwandan ambassador to Liberia Rosemary Mbabazi, to work closely with the Monrovia City Corporation for the practical implementation of their collective commitment.
The Rwandan Foreign Policy Chief also extolled the mayor and his team for the warm reception according him during his brief visit at the Monrovia City Corporation.
