Water Producing Companies Risk Shutting Down

MONROVIA-The Chief Executive Officer  of  the National  Commission on  Water  Sanitation  and Hygiene(WASH) Bobby Whitefield has disclosed  that  the Commission  will not relent  to institute  a robust measure  to  closed any  Water Producing Companies   without water  quality on the Liberian market.

He said such Water Companies   goods   will be taking off the market by the WASH inspectors in line with the result from the water quality testing.

Addressing a press conference Tuesday August 3, 2021 in Monrovia Mr. Whitefield disclosed that the WASH Commission is partnering with the National Public Health Institute will to ensure that the water that is trade   to the public is of the best quality.

In line with that Mr. Whitefield   disclosed  that  shortly  the  National Public Health Institute  and  that of  the Wash Commission will  singed  an MOU   to test  the water quality  of  those producing  water  companies on a  quarterly basis.

He stressed that the result from the water tested by the National Public Health Institute   will be giving   to the WASH Commission to issue a certificate to that company.

Whitefield further disclosed that a team from Wash Commission will shortly embark on fumigating communities and homes across the country.

The National Commission on Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Boss however reaffirmed measures   that Liberians need to adhere to the health regulations in preventing the coronavirus.

The WASH Commission has the statutory mandate   to regulate the WASH sector across the country.

As part of the Wash  Commission  efforts  to address  those mounting challenges  that are confronting  the sector,  Mr. Whitefield said  the Commission will shortly deploy over  fifty wash  inspectors  and monitors  in  several  counties  that included   Margibi ,Bong, Bassa  Montserrado   among others.

The Inspectors   according to the Wash Commission Boss will implement four key components that comprise enforcement, monitoring, inspection and data collection.

“Inspection, you see our inspectors at your premises, businesses  , offices , schools , churches they are not coming for confutation, they are coming  to engaged, to make show  that we are doing  the right things to safe our own lives  and  the life of  those around us,  to stop  the spread   of the virus ” he noted.

Additionally   the WASH Commission Boss did urge Liberians to remain vigilant, especially those Government Ministries , Agencies and commission that are charge with some responsibilities , must lead, stating that it is what the Wash Commission is doing.

“We are ensuing  that our people are washing  their hands  and at  the sometime  , we are collecting data” ,  the Wash Commission Boss emphasizing   that  the collection of  data  will help  the commission  to strategy  their response  in the right direction.

According to him,  to achieve  such drive,  there is a need for a trained wash staff   that  will get data on wash behavior change  from one percent  to sixty percent  by ensuring  that everyone keep washing his or her hands.

“Our best line in defense of the coronavirus is in WASH, so it means we must wash our hands with clean water and soap, put on our masks   regularly “he noted.

One of the most important prevention of the COVID-19 according to him is social distance, stressing that, it was the reasons that those of the public should give full respect and cooperation to the wash inspectors and monitors.
