WASSCE Results Expected July 24

-As WAEC Boss Dale Gbotoe Hopes Performance Will Be Better Than Last Year
The Head of the West African Examination Council Liberia office, Dale Gbotoe said preparation leading to the release of the WASSCE exams is well on course.

According to Mr. Gbotoe, marking of exams papers are well on course and they are working very hard to meet up with the set time previously announced to the public..
He told reporters Thursday that with the level of work already done, they will release the results on July 24, 2019.
Gbotoe said unlike in the past where they normally take two to three Months to release the results, they are now working in line with their forty-nine to fifty days’ period to ensure the release of the results.
The WAEC Boss indicated that current marking process is a regional exercise done by all member Countries participating in the test.
Mr. Gbotoe speaking to newsman added that unlike in the past, he is certain that this year’s result will be far better in terms of student’s performance.
Gbotoe indicated further that Government’s recent interventions to prepare twelve graders for the WASSCE through the Saturday classes were good initiatives, noting that it will pay off after the release of the Exams.
This year’s exams he told reporters Thursday were administered leakage free; something he termed as a successful conduct of the 2019 test.
Though he pointed out few challenges, but noted that on the overall, it was a good exercise.
He said the 2019 exams were administered in three categories, namely: Senior, Junior and Elementary respectively.
The Liberian educator stressed that the students of Liberia are smart and if provided the necessary environment and the educational materials to work with, they will perform well in future WASSCE exams.
As part of their regional exercise, he added that about eleven examiners of Liberia will leave the Country next week to Nigeria to form a part of the standard fitting exercise.
The fitting exercise is where the examiners decide a cut of point of the candidates for passing category among others.
Though he added that Ghana and Nigeria are few steps ahead of Liberia in terms of student’s performance due to their earlier participation in the exams, he is of the conviction that in the future Liberian students can do even better.
The WAEC head said they are working hard to ensure that they get on par with their counterparts in terms of technology.
Plans he uttered are underway to ensure that Liberia will do the marking of the papers electronically.
He clarified that the council has not cancelled the resitter exams rather it changed the name to Private Candidate exams due to the stigma of the name resitter.
According to him, not everyone who sit the test do resitter rather some do to ensure that they beef up their grades for other reasons among others.
Currently he noted that registration for the resitter exams is on going both in Liberia and Nigeria as the deadline in Liberia will be August 30, 2019.
