-Rally To End District Road Trouble

 To fix Liberia’s roads trouble will require all hands-on deck-both government and citizens’ interventions are critical to the development efforts of any nation. And so, the St. Paul River Right Bank Association (RBDA), a group of permanent citizens and residents, hailing from the right bank of the St. Paul River Arthington, Millsburg, Clay Ashland and Virginia who reside in the United States of America is rallying resources to recondition deplorable road networks in the district.

In a statement, Co Chairman Adolphus B.B Capehart said the organization is launching a project named and styled saving our roads which will amongst others mobilize the needed resources for the maintenance of the road networks within the district with specific focus on the Virginia – Arthington Highway (Road).

He said “our project will focus on the condition of our roads. The roads throughout the Right Bank, now called “District 17” remain deplorable, barely or not accessible during the rainy season. And we believe that we must all come together and help recondition and maintain our roads”.

The project, he mentioned is self-help and will include side brushing, repairing and conditioning areas allowed through the rain, opening up all Feeder Roads, fully conditioning and maintaining the roads, ensuring the recreation of the Public Works Department in the District, and ensue the pavement of roads by National Government which has been approved.

He indicated “To date, our communities are once more suffering from bad roads. Our roads have been over taken by the bushes, some completely closed while others become inaccessible during the rainy season. Our fellow citizens and residents go through tremendous hardships during the rainy season to commute where possible as other areas become completely cut off”.

Established in the early ‘80s by permanent citizens and residents from the Right Bank of the St. Paul River, the key focus for the formation of the Association was the Virginia – Arthington Highway (Road).
