MONROVIA-The Chamber-Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia is expected to hear a writ of prohibition filed by the opposition Unity Party against the National Elections Commission (NEC).

The notice of assignment dated April 27, 2022 reads “by directive of her Honor Jamessetta H. Wollokollie, Associate Justice Presiding-in-Chamber, you are hereby citied to a conference with her honor on Friday, April 29, 2022 at the hour of 2pm in connection with the above caption case.”

Justice Wollokollie’s citation further asked the NEC to stay all proceedings or actions in this matter pending the outcome of the conference.

It can be recalled that Unity Party filed a writ of prohibition with the Justice-in-Chamber of the Supreme Court for the NEC to do the honorable thing by including its candidate on the final list of qualified candidates for the pending Lofa County by-election.

There is a controversy as to the UP feeding candidates in the Lofa By-election when it has not officially withdrawn from the CPP.

This case, by Liberty Party’s Chairman Musa Bility is currently before the NEC preventing the UP candidate’s name from forming part of the preliminary list of qualified candidates for this process.
