Monrovia-December 5, 2025: Liberia’s Minister of Information, Jerolinmek M. Piah, has disclosed that the uncommon wave of rainfall hitting the country this December is contributing to delays in several ongoing national infrastructure projects.

Addressing journalists during MICAT’s regular Thursday press briefing in Monrovia, Minister Piah explained that the persistent rains unusual for a month traditionally characterized by dry conditions have raised concerns among citizens. He noted that many Liberians are questioning the unexpected weather pattern and its impact on development activities.

According to the Minister, the heavy rains have slowed the pace of roadwork, drainage construction, and other field operations that rely on stable dry-weather conditions. He said contractors are being forced to readjust schedules to accommodate the unpredictable weather, which has created new challenges for on-site implementation.

Despite these setbacks, Minister Piah assured the public that the government remains fully committed to its development agenda. He emphasized that while the weather may temporarily disrupt project timelines, it will not derail national progress or weaken the administration’s determination to deliver essential infrastructure.

In a humorous aside, Piah referenced comments from a Liberian pastor who suggested that the unusual rainfall might have spiritual implications. The Minister noted the remark with a smile but made it clear that the government’s focus remains firmly on practical solutions and the steady advancement of development projects.

Piah concluded by encouraging the public to remain patient as the government continues to monitor the weather situation and work closely with contractors to keep major road and infrastructure projects on track.
