University of Liberia: UL Warns SU

Liberia-The Interim Management Team of the University of Liberia (UL) has warned the Student Unification Party (SUP) and all other student-based political parties against the conduct of political activities in violation of a ban placed on student politics.

The UL Interim Management Team reminded SUP and all student groupings, stakeholders of UL, and the public in general that the University of Liberia’s 104th Commencement Convocation is ongoing.

“Any form of student political activities organized and conducted without the expressed permission of the Administration risk serious consequences in line with the Student Handbook,” the Interim Management team further warned.

“As we do everything in our power to maintain a peaceful and conducive learning and working environment on our campuses, all stakeholders, including the students, have the responsibility to commit themselves to the forward match and progress of the University,” Dr. Conteh said.

The management team urged SUP to call off its planned congress because it is in contravention of the University’s suspension of student politics.

“No political party on all UL campuses has any permission to conduct political activities as the suspension remains in place until otherwise,” it said.

The IMT, headed by Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh, also called on all peace-loving students, and the public to disengage from all political activities on the UL campuses as such actions are unwelcome, and contravene the suspension of politics.
