TU Hosts Youth Summit On SDGs, Vision 2030

MARYLAND COUNTY-OCTOBER 28, 2025: Tubman University has once again positioned itself as a hub for youth empowerment and leadership with the hosting of the Tubman University Youth Summit-an inspiring event that brings together young people from diverse backgrounds to share ideas and develop solutions for Liberia’s future.

The summit focuses on two key that include, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)-Goal 13: Climate Action and Goal 4: Quality Education. Both considered essential to achieving Liberia’s Vision 2030 Agenda.

During the event, participants will engage in interactive discussions, learning sessions, and networking opportunities with educators, community leaders, and other passionate young change makers. The central aim is to explore practical ways young Liberians can take action on climate change, strengthen the nation’s education system, and contribute to long-term national development.

By the close of the summit, participants will craft a Youth Resolution, a document outlining their collective recommendations and commitments toward building a more sustainable and inclusive Liberia.

The highlight of the summit will be the keynote address by Mrs. Temitope Esther Olajide, an esteemed lecturer and researcher at Tubman University’s College of Arts and Sciences.

Mrs. Olajide, who holds a Master’s Degree in Zoology, has been widely recognized for her excellence in teaching, mentorship, and community service. In 2024, she was honored with the Best Lecturer of the Year Award, a reflection of her dedication to academic excellence and student development.

Her work extends beyond the classroom, as she continues to advocate strongly for girls’ education, youth leadership, and women’s empowerment. Through various initiatives, Mrs. Olajide has inspired many young Liberians to pursue education with passion and purpose.

The 2025 Youth Summit is guided by the theme, “Transforming Ideas into Impact: The Power of Youth Leadership.” The theme emphasizes the potential of young people to turn innovative ideas into real solutions for national challenges.

Organizers believe that the summit will not only raise awareness about critical issues like climate change action and quality education but also motivate young Liberians to become agents of change in their communities.

This year’s summit underscores the importance of youth participation in shaping Liberia’s Vision 2030; the national framework aimed at achieving sustainable growth and prosperity.

By engaging young voices in policy discussions and solution-building, the Tubman University Youth Summit is setting the stage for a new generation of leaders ready to make a difference.
