Six Jetty Employees Jailed for Stealing

MONROVIA-Six employees of Jetty Trading Corporation are currently behind bars at the Monrovia Central Prison for allegedly stealing US$ 341,143.99 from their boss, V.S. Sechdeva.

Defendants Amandeep Singh, Dinesh Kumar, Lakhwinder Singh, Balwent Singh, Sunil Kumar and Nearaj Kumar were forwarded to the Monrovia city court on October 20, 2021 for prosecution after being charged with theft of property and criminal conspiracy.

Police charged sheet revealed that the defendants criminally conspired and stole from the management warehouse assorted bundles of zinc value at US$ 341,143.99.

The investigation further showed that the crimes were gradually commissioned by the defendants against the Jetty Trading Corporation who converted the proceeds into their personal use, thus depriving the management of its sole income.

The crimes levied against the defendants is in violation of chapter 10; section 10.4 and chapter 15, section 15.51 of the new penal law of Liberia.

Majority of the defendants who are foreign nationals could not secured a valid criminal appearance bond.
