Senator StephenZargo of Lofa County has lamented the ‘deplorable road conditions’ in his county. In a communication to the plenary of the Liberian Senate recently, the former Liberty Party chairman reminded his colleagues that the bad road condition is impeding goods and services in the county.
He described the current situation as ‘unbearable’ that needs urgent attention from the Liberian Government headed by President George Manneh Weah.
In a brief chat with Legislative Reporters following the submission of his communication to the plenary of the Liberian Senate, Senator Zargo disclosed that Lofa County has enough food and other farm products that should be transported to Monrovia and other urban cities, but this cannot be done due to the deplorable roads in the county.
This, the Liberty Party stalwart said is significantly contributing to the destruction of products from the various farms and movement of people.
Senator Zargo also added “We have enough food in Lofa County, but due to the bad roads, our people cannot get them to Monrovia and other areas.”
He however described as ‘embarrassing’ the current situation facing the county.
At the same time, Senator Zargo has revealed that the earth moving equipment rehabilitating the road leading to Lofa County has reportedly been moved to an unknown location by unknown individuals without the consent of the Lofa County legislative caucus.
He alleged that the legislative caucus of the county was never informed of such decision.
