SD COOPER JUNCTION- February 27, 2025 -The Armed Forces of Liberia high command on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 condemned an attack against police officer by unidentified soldiers, a statement said.
“It can be recalled that early Wednesday evening on 26 February 2025, some unidentified military personnel allegedly attacked a police officer at the SD Cooper Road Junction for reasons not yet established,” the statement said.
“THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE ARMED FORCES OF LIBERIA, MAJOR GENERAL DAVIDSON F. FORLEH, CONDEMNS THE UNAUTHORIZED ATTACK AND USE OF FORCE BY UNIDENTIFIED MILITARY PERSONNEL AGAINST A POLICE OFFICER AND HEREBY CALLS FOR CALM AS INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY,” the statement further said.
“This action by these unidentified AFL personnel, acting on their own and not sanctioned by the High Command of the AFL, is concerning and required swift intervention as was seen by the arrival of senior officers of the AFL and the LNP on the scene to de-escalate the situation to restore calm,” it added.
The high command of the AFL calls for calm and assures the public that it is in active communication with national security authorities to ensure that this situation stays under control.
Meanwhile, an immediate investigation by the Provost Marshall and the Legal Affairs Unit of the AFL have been launched to established the facts.

A reporter from New Republic saw two open pick ups with several soldiers on board heading towards the junction. As they arrived on the scene, there was pandemonium which led residents running to see what was ongoing.
Few minutes later, the Inspector General of Police, Col. Greogory Coleman headed a convoy and arrived on the scene with dozens of police officers.
“We do not know what is going on here. We just saw the AFL pick up taking the opposite side of the road with speed coming here(SD Cooper Junction). As soon as they came, some police officers left , but the riot police officers with Teargas guns remain standing here,” Moses D. Smith, an eye witness said.
