Sanniquellie City Corporation (SCC) has announced the commencement of a cleanup and demolition exercise.
According to the newly appointed Mayor of Sanniquellie City, the exercise is intended to give the county provincial capital a deserving pride and beauty.
Madam Maima Kamara said as a capital city, Sanniquellie needs to be clean to reflect the true image of the county.
She admittedly said garbage has taken over Sanniquellie and expressed her commitment to clean the city.
“It will take us two to three months to remove garbage in the city,” she said.
Mayor Kamara revealed she has begun the demolition of makeshift structures that now serve as death trap for Residents.
“We are getting rid of the ugly buildings because when wind blows, it will break them down,” she added.
She praised Sen. Prince Yormie Johnson and members of the Nimba Legislative Caucus for their support to her.
Madam Kamara also disclosed that she has acquired parcel of land to be used as burial site for the city.
According to her, the lack of public cemetery poses challenge to the city.
Outlining her plan, she revealed that her leadership is considering the relocation of Sanniquellie General Market so as to protect lake Telleh.
