Sad News for Electricity Users LEC Announces Outages of Power

MONROVIA-What appears to be sad news for electricity users was announced by the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC).

LEC, on its official website site informed electricity users about plans to carry out power outages which will run from May 1 through, May 5, 2023.

The LEC said these outages are being implemented due to unforeseeable challenges with power generation in Cote d’Ivoire.

“As a result, CI Energies, the electricity suppliers, through the Transco-CLSG transmission lines, can no longer supply Liberia with electricity beyond contracted capacity,” the announcement on the institution’s website said.

LEC said, the impact of such an unfortunate may not be able to meet domestic peak demand, which is currently 74 megawatts.

LEC indicated that it is hopeful that water will flow into the Mt. Coffee Dam which will improve power generation in the coming days.
