According to a local journalist in the Northern Liberian County, Mayor Jeremiah B. Yangean decision to close down the business was predicated upon a formal request made to his office by residents of the city.
Residents of the ‘Under the Tree’ Business Center Community are quoted by the Upper Nimba County ELBC Correspondent as informing the Mayor of continual disturbance experienced at late hours of the night as a result of teenagers and adults taking in dangerous substances.
The residents are quoted as reporting the issue of the business center breeding prostitution, potential rape since some minors are often drugged and sexually harassed or abused from the spot while others enter into unnecessary arguments sometimes resulting to the commission of crimes ranging from theft of property, aggravated assaults and sexual exploitation and abuse amongst others.
It is also reported that the owner of the center, not named, was reported to have been involved with the sale of other strong narcotic substances, NICOM products and other harmful substances.
However, the local journalist in the area further said the man in question as owner of the business center has ever since denied ever selling harmful substances despite visible and human evidences some of whom are his customers.
The business owner is said to be undergoing Police investigation after which he will be charged and sent to court for trial.
Saclepea is one of the major business concentrated cities in central Nimba after Ganta and lies in transit route connecting Nimba to the Southeastern counties of Liberia.
