Rev. Logan Identifies With His ‘Childhood Communities’ In Old Road

The Executive Director of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation Resettlement Commission (LRRRC) over the weekend identified with his ‘childhood communities’ in Old Road, Montserrado County electoral district ten by distributing food and nonfood items.

Accompanied by his wife and children, Rev. Festus R. B. Logan’s distributions took him to Vai Town and Transformer Communities all in Old Road, Montserrado County electoral district ten where he distributed 50 bags of 25kg rice, jerseys, cash among others.

At Vai Town, Rev. Logan said it was a privilege to be home. Speaking at the His Grace Vocational Skills Training Institute owned and operated by a diehard supporter of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), the LRRRC boss said “We were born in this environment and went to school and we have decided to come back home.”

“This tailor shop stood with us in the struggle, the Congress for Democratic Change. This pastor was labeled with so many names, but they stood with us. The president empowered us and we must be a help to our people. District ten did well for us and my district is proud of our performance in government,” Rev. Logan said.

At the His Grace Vocational Skills Training Institute, he donated 10 bags of 25kg rice and a cash of LRD30, 000.00 to the staff.

However, the LRRRC boss was quick to point out that his help has no ‘political connection’ and shouldn’t be interpreted in any way.

In response, the Manager of the His Grace Vocational Skills Training Institute, Patrick D. Kendy thanked Rev. Logan and family for what they called ‘timely gesture’.

“There is time for everything. We are very proud of our president and he has made us to know how leadership looks like. He has given us hope and faith. I called others to know that their days will come and life is about determination and let’s take Liberia to be ours. We encourage others to come here and learn free of charge and we hope to extend it to the fifteen counties,” Patrick D. Kendy added.

Rev. Logan and family made a brief stop at the Kailondo Field in Transformer community, Old Road where they sponsored a bloc tournament.

At the community, they made a cash donation of LRD50, 000.00, two sets of jerseys and 40bags of 25kg rice. Speaking ahead of the kickoff, Rev. Logan said “We want to first say that our intent is not based on political desire. I don’t want to be representative. We are here to give back to the community. I lived in this transformer community. My senior high to university was in this community. I knew God for myself in this community. We were seven boys in one room and wore the same shirts and shoes together.”

He used the opportunity to encourage the young people of the community to be determine and don’t allow their present condition to determine their future.

“Nobody has your future; you have your own future. Our friends used to leave to do BM work and we didn’t bother ourselves. President Weah gave me the opportunity to serve and you have a representative in government who is contributing to the pro poor agenda and you can do the same,” he said.

Rev. Logan further said “Our young children are getting into drugs addiction. District ten will grow and bring out future leaders. Don’t allow anybody to determine your future. Don’t allow your present socio- economic conditions to limit your potential and we need to know that.”
