The office of Grand Bassa County electoral district three Representative Matthew Joe has termed as ‘irresponsible, reckless and unfounded’ rumors being circulated in the public and on facebook alleging that the district Representative is dead.

The lawmaker’s office in a release said the dead hoax is geared toward instilling fear and sadness on the minds of constituents, families, colleagues and friends.

“However, we are saddened by such fake and damaging propaganda being spewed out by our detractors,” the office said in a release.

The office has meanwhile clarified that Representative Joe is alive seeking medical treatment. “On August 9, 2018, the Representative wrote his colleagues, asking for sick leave in order to attend to his health,” the office added.

The office said all efforts are being exerted by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and other colleagues, to have Representative Joe flown abroad for advance medical treatment. “However, we reassure the public that he is alive. The office urges the public to kindly verify whatever information they intend to publish on social media with the relevant individuals.
