The education pillar of Nimba County electoral district seven Representative, Roger Domah is said to be making impact as he fulfills such commitment as promised by sponsoring more students.
During the 2017 legislative and presidential elections, the Nimba County electoral district lawmaker pledged his unflinching supports in increasing literacy and ensuring that consciousness and enlightenment are heightened.
Representative Roger Domah himself is a venerated educator with several years of experience. He has also won for himself several accolades that made him stands tall. Prior to his election, Representative Domah served as Principal of the Ganta United Methodist High school in Ganta, Nimba County located in electoral district one.
According to his Media Officer, Cyrus Saye, the lawmaker has emphasized that achieving this requires a multidimensional approach and taking deliberate and pointed steps in an economy challenged by several variables with far reaching consequences.
“This is exactly the case with Representative Roger SWY Domah who has amongst other things prioritized education as one of the ways of empowering young people. He has several programs to enroll and maintain young people in schools at all levels – primary, secondary, vocational and tertiary.
“These activities are concentrated in majority of the grade schools in the district, various colleges and universities in the county and other parts of the country. And as these engagements abound, we have elected to place emphasis on recent efforts that launched the biggest of all at the Barshell University College in Paynesville City,” Cyrus Saye said in a statement in Monrovia Thursday October 11, 2018
Saye said Representative Domah on October 2, 2018 submitted a scholarship list of one hundred and seven (107) students to the Admission Office of the Barshell University College for further processing and subsequent admission.
He said the list was drawn from the forty-two towns in the district. The Media Officer said the students were recommended by the various communities after a vetting process organized, implemented and supervised by the communities and the names were submitted to the lawmaker’s office.
“This was to give the communities a say in the selection process and to involve them in our activities as we’ve always done. The students are expected to stay engage with the communities and return to serve upon the completion of their studies,” he added.
Saye said as far as their record is concerned, Nimba County electoral district seven has the highest number of scholarship students at the Barshell University College, saying “we’re hopeful that our recruits will maximize this shared responsibility and get optimal outcomes. It is a shared responsibility because the students are required to pay the bills covering their registration. This is known to our students and they’re joyously complying and we have concluded with the administration to give them special dispensation and longer payment periods since majority of them are relocating to completely new environments.”
“As stated earlier, we submitted 107 students, but the number has risen to 120; due to inclusion of additional students whose documents were not in at the time of submission, but have now gotten consideration. The number could rise further as we continue to receive more students expressing interest. The cost of one credit hour at Barshell University College is $15.00USD,” Saye explained.
