Reasons for CDC defeat: Lofa Solidarity Working Against CDC, Koffa

…leaked audio revealed

MONROVIA, Nov 1-A leaked audio on social media from a man who only identified himself as Sam, has blamed the hierarchy of the Congress for Democratic Change(CDC) for the defeat of the party in the just-ended election.

Also, he has accused them of conspiracy against speaker Fonati Koffa. According to him, he runs the largest auxiliary within the CDC-LSDC (which he did not disclose)
“What is going on right now with the speaker, I will hold the entire party leadership responsible,” he said.

The speaker of the House of Representatives, J. Fonati Koffa and his deputy, Thomas Fallah are from the former ruling party of George Weah.
But recently, there were plans by his colleague lawmakers to unseat him while away for what they termed as a vote of no confidence.

Sam said during the election that his group only received US$500 dollars to run campaign.

“Since this speaker thing been going on, what have you heard Jefferson Koijee saying? Nothing.” Koijee is the Secretary General of the CDC.

Prior to the election, the Chairman of the CDC was Morluba Morlu, Jefferson Koijee, Senator Saah Joseph, Thomas Fallah, Jangar Kow (all from Lofa county),the home county of the current president of Liberia, Joseph Boakai.
From the party’s leadership, Morlu straight down, he described them as schemers.

He claimed that the CDC is aware of what’s happening with the removal of Speaker Koffa because of Lofa Solidarity.

According to Sam, CDC won the first round of the elections in 2023 but lost in the runoff because they, as leaders had bad intentions, they were in sympathy with their Lofa connections.

“There were no poll washers anywhere while UP had pool washers everywhere,” he added. Sam claimed it was a calculated ploy against the party.

He added: “the senator, Saah Joseph, all the donations he has been doing, he has never called President Weah’s name. President Weah will see for himself.”

“The party caused our defeat because of the Lofa solidarity. Until that party is straight, we need an early convention. It is hard to say. President Weah will see for himself the kind of people he has around him.”
He added: “There are some good Lofians. They will need to change all these people if CDC will get better,” he added.

He said during the speakership elections, Reprehensive Fallah wanted to become, but he was opposed by President Weah; which many of those in the leadership, especially from Lofa, were not happy about. The current speaker was a deputy speaker to Dr. Bhofal Chambers who came from the CDC.

“Thoms Fallah is a bad man. During the speaker election, all of them went to President Weah to make Thomas Fallah speaker. President Weah said it was not going to happen, and he said that since Fonati Koffa was a deputy speaker, he should be the speaker in the absence of Chambers. He refused the request to make Fallah Speaker over Koffa, Sam revealed.

According to him, Fallah, Saah Joseph, who came to prominence financially and politically, is through the instrumentality of President Weah.

“Fallah was selling planks. He had nothing, but today, he is a rich man because of President Weah. President Weah put Saah Joseph hands up and sold him to the people of Montserrado. Today, they are scheming him and the party,” Sam revealed.

He vowed to initiate a campaign against them and expose their wickedness until they came to their senses.

This paper made several calls to the party’s office for comments, but there was no response.
