Public Defender Goes To Jail In Nimba

The Public Defender assigned at the 8th Judicial Circuit Court in Sanniquellie City, Nimba County has been arrested and sent to jail at the Sanniquellie central prison.

According to Augustine Dahn, a local journalist in the county, Cllr. Robertson P. Mehn’s arrest was ordered by the presiding judge of the Court, Cllr. Yarmie Quiqui Gbeisay for alleged egregious attitude and gross disrespect shown while discharging his legal duty.

Journalist Dahn explained that when Cllr. Mehn appeared in court to defend his client, a question was poised to the Attorney of the County by he (Mehn), but the Presiding Judge argued that the question was not in place, requesting him to ask another question.

But Mehn insisted that his question was in place and demanded answer.

This resulted into heated argument between Judge Gbeisay and Mehn, thereby imposing a fine of hundred United States dollars on him.

Mehn, however, refused to pay the fine something Judge Gbeisay considered as disrespect and ordered that he (Mehn) be arrested and jail.

When contacted by Reporters, Mehn declined to comment.
