MONROVIA-A Female Cleric, Rev. Cecelia Larga has been alarmed over the wave of increased road accidents on the various highways due to the lack of reflectors.
According to the Assistant Pastor of the Greater Outreach Central Church, many people have lost their lives due to the breakdown of truckers on the highways without a reflector to indicate that there is a breakdown on said road.
Speaking Sunday during the regular service of the Church on the significance of public safety, Rev. Larga called on President George Weah to prevail on the Police Inspector General, Patrick Sudue to ensure that all vehicles have reflectors in line with the public safety policy.
She said it is vital for the Liberia National Police to enforce the usage of reflectors by drivers when their vehicles break down on the highway.
“Innocent people are dying on a daily basis; they will have their truck breakdown on the road without reflectors that is resulting to the deaths of our people,” she said.
Rev. Larga requested the Liberian Government through the Liberia National Police to commence the provision of reflectors for all drivers.
She narrated that the Police should mandate drivers to purchase those reflectors from them as a means of preventing the consistent upsurge of accidents across the country.
The Liberian clergywoman expressed fear that if nothing is done by the Government to prevent such continuous nonsafety practices by motorists, the country will experience more deaths due to accidents mostly as the rainy season commences.
Deliberating on the peace and stability of the country mainly at the time the country goes to elections, the woman of God urged Liberians to seek the intervention of God for His protection and direction as a people and nation.
She said Liberians only need to ask for his grace and God is willing to respond to such an appeal.
According to her no matter the condition of the country, it is time that the body of Christ stand and pray for God’s protection generally a free fair, and credible elections.
