Monrovia-The Secretary General of the Unity Party and member of the Coalition of Political Parties, Mohammed Ali has been declared wanted by the Liberia National Police for comments he made on his a face book page early this month on delay to certificate Brownie Samukai, of Lofa county.
Part of his Ali’s post said: “Dear National Elections Commission, we understand the ploy. But try it and you will see what is gonna be the end result.”
But Police Spokesman, Moses Carter told a local radio talk show on Friday that Ali was wanted and any place he is seen, he would be arrested.
“All I can say is that Mo Ali is a wanted man. He was invited to the station but last minute to time, his lawyer told us that he was not well,” he said.
In recent times, there has been series of legal cases against former Defense Minister under madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s regime, Brownie Samukai of illegally taking over one Million United States dollars from the account of the Armed Forces of Liberia.
The Supreme court ordered him to restitute the amount or risk imprisonment. He agreed to the ruling of the court.
As the NEC was about to certificate him, there was a prohibition filed against him by the leader of the opposition politician, the Movement for Progressive Change, Simeon Freeman. After few days, the home of the Associate Justice, Joseph Nangbe was attacked by unknown people. Later, the Headquarter of the NEC was attacked with petrol bomb by unknown persons.
Carter said Ali had refused twice to avail himself to the police, hence his declaration as a wanted person. That he has been invited to answer questions in his post. However, a statement issued by the CPP over the weekend said Ali will be taken to the police station on Monday, March 22, 2021 with is lawyer and supporters.
