The National Security & Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) says it has kicked off in six counties a month-long nationwide vetting and validation of the Government of Liberia, and noted this exercise will last up to September 24th, 2018.
According to a release issued, NASSCORP said this exercise will cover Bong, Grand Bassa, Maryland, Margibi Montserrado and Nimba Counties and will further be extended to the rest of the counties until every Government of Liberia pensioner is vetted and his or her name is entered into NASSCORP’s database.
The release signed by the Corporation’s Public Affairs Coordinator, Davis Beekeh also said this exercise will pave the way for the payment of the Government of Liberia pension by NASSCORP to former civil and public servants in October of this year.
“During this exercise, the Government of Liberia (GOL) pensioners and survivors will be required to submit the originals and photocopies of their letters of retirement, pension certificates, pension payroll ID cards, death certificates and passport-size photos, among others,” the release said.
Meanwhile, the Corporation is calling on all GOL pensioners and survivors of deceased GOL pensioners to cooperate by showing up at the various vetting sites around the country to be vetted, adding, “It is a prerequisite for receiving GOL pension from NASSCORP.”
It can be recalled that in February 2017, the empowering PRC Decree No. 14 that governed the organization of NASSCORP dor 37 years was repealed and replaced by an Act creating a new Chapter 89 of the Executive Law establishing the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation of the Republic of Liberia.
This said Act according to the release transferred the administration of the Civil Service Pension Program to the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation upon coming into force.
