A citizen of Electoral District #13 in Montserrado County and an entrepreneur, Sepo Moore on Tuesday donated several assorted food items to members of the Islamic community residing in the area to identify with them during this holy Month of Ramadan.
Speaking at one of the distribution centers in Chocolate City, in the Town ship of Gardnerville, a staff in the office of Moore, Trokon Collage called on the recipients (Muslims) to pray for Liberia as they go through this month-long period of prayer and fasting. Collage told the Muslim leaders to uphold the ideals of peace and respect as dictated by the religion.
Items donated included several bags of 25kg rice, cartoons of cube sugar, bags of corn meal, as well maize meal, etc. The value of the materials presented to members of the faith was estimated at more than five thousand United States dollars.
Collage informed the beneficiaries that it was Moore’s own way of identifying with them as they go through this holy month of fast and prayer as done by their counterparts at this time around the world.
Receiving the donation, one of the Muslim leaders of the community, Foday Kamara thanked Moore through his office staff, Collage on behalf of the Islamic Community for the kind gesture and prayed that the Almighty God will bless him and his entire family and grant them long life and prosperity.
Ramadan to Muslims is one of the most sacred eras of the year according to the Islamic faith and culture. During the period, they fast, abstain from pleasures and pray so as to come closer to God. It is also a time for families to gather and celebrate, which usually occurs in the ninth month based on the Islamic calendar, (the lunar cycles of the moon).
