The Southeastern Caucus of the Mano River Union Youth Parliament-Liberia Chapter (MRUYP-LC) has overwhelmingly endorsed the Liberian Government for the coastal road connectivity project.
In a statement signed by members of the chapter Monday, they alleged that the region has been perpetually marginalized and the project envisaged by the government of President George Manneh Weah was welcoming after years of denial of access to roads and basic infrastructures resulting to economic hardship.
“Our assembly here today is to welcome and endorse the recent pronouncement of President George Manneh Weah-led Government to negotiate a loan intended to finance the construction of roads in the Southeast, mainly costal County capitals connection, which comes at the time we are almost left without hope. This pronouncement brings a sense of redemption of our lost hope and fulfillment of a dream to us Parliamentarians and the Southeasterners at large,” they said.
They are calling on the National Legislature to kindly ensure the timely ratification of the two separate loan agreements submitted to it by the President in order to ease the aged-hardship being faced by those from the southeast.
“The southeastern members of the Parliament believe that the ratification of these agreements by the National Legislature will add a significant economic value to our country and accelerate the improvement of infrastructures and agriculture,” they added.
Meanwhile, the Southeastern members of the MRUYP-LC is calling on all members of the National Legislature to see their support to these Agreements as a ‘Call to Duty’ by their employers, the Southeasterners and do all they can to have them ratified.
