More Troops To CDC

By: Jackson C. Clay, Jr.

It seems that Liberia is gradually moving towards a one party state with the current waves of politicians trooping their way to the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) from their various political institutions.

Since the taking over of state powers by the CDC led government headed by football icon, George Manneh Weah, there has been huge crossing over by politicians from their political parties to the CDC.

Yesterday, August 28, 2018, several young professional Liberians within the neighborhood of ten persons again joint the CDC citing the party’s Pro-Poor agenda as a major reason for their convection to joining the ruling establishment.

Speaking on behalf of the group, former Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Deputy Director Urias Goll said that they have not come to join the CDC because of jobs seeking but rather for the administration’s Pro-Poor agenda

“We are not joining with any preconditions. I know some of our colleagues will say that the guys are joining the CDC for job but 90-95 percent of us joining the CDC today are already employed by the government and we know that there will be some people who will share misinformation about out joinin the CDC,” Goll said.

He indicated that they have decided to join the CDC based on three fundamental reasons and principals, since the foundation of Liberia there has been only one political institution that is committed to promoting the interest of its partisans and the CDC is the second while the first is the True Weig Partys and that this a political party that is open to everyone to come and join in moving the country forward since assuming state powers among others.

Those joined the CDC are Urias Goll, Mathew Jallah and Benedict Williams among others who were staunch supporters of the Unity Party candidate, Ambassador Joseph Boakai in the just ended 2017 elections in the country.

For his part, the cahirman of the CDC, Mulbah Morlu welcomed the newly joint members of the CDC and urged to feel at home, adding that all of the right and privileges entitle to other partisans of the CDC are not transfer to them as a member.
