Liberia’s Defense Minister Maj/General Daniel Ziankahn has lauded the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for its continued assistance to the Armed Forces of Liberia.
He said the AFL appreciates the efforts of the ICRC in helping to build the capacity of the army in the area of humanitarian laws.
The Defense Minister said ICRC has been a “good partner”‘ and as such, the ministry will continue to work with them in professionalizing the AFL in line with international protocol.
For his part, the Chief of Mission of the ICRC, Christian Cardon De Lichtbuer expressed the ICRC commitment to assisting the Liberian Army despite limited resources. He said the ICRC will shortly present a training package to the ministry for the AFL in the wake of its participation in peacekeeping mission in Mali.
