Mining: BMMC Donates Over 2,500 Bags Of Rice And Presents A Cash of Over $22,000 To Youths In Its Affected Communities, As They End Cleaning Initiative
KINJOR-The Management of Bea Mountain Mining Corporation has made a cash payment of over Twenty-Two Thousand United States Dollars to over three hundred young people within its affected communities including Garwula District, in Grand Cape Mount County.
The payments were made on Monday, 23rd December 2024 by the Community Relations Department headed by its Superintendent Isaac Z.K. Sasraku.
As a way of identifying with citizens during the festive season, BMMC also donated over 2,500 bags of 25kg rice to several communities and stakeholders in the County.
It can be recalled; on December 5, 2024 BMMC launched the 2024 Christmas cleaning up initiative in Kinjor and other affected communities. The cleaning initiative was intended to empower over three hundred youths within its host communities.
During the kickoff of the cleaning up exercise, the Company also presented sanitation materials to the various communities. The materials included; shovels, wheelbarrows, cutlasses, rakes and reflective vests among others.
The youths were recruited from Kinjor, Marvoh, Downstream Community, Weajue, Ndablama and Garwula District for fifteen days to give their respective communities a good facelift during the festive season.
Speaking to the youths, BMMC Community Relations Superintendent Isaac Z.K. Sasraku and CR Gender Officer Hawa Massaquoi said the fund will help to reduce financial burden on the young people within the various communities, especially those without jobs to earn some money to boost their lives and families.
The goodwill gesture done by Bea Mountain Mining Corporation, does not only benefit communities within its host concession, but also the less fortunate children, elderly women, and men which clearly demonstrates and underscores the company’s commitment to improving the living standards the citizens of Grand Cape Mount County.
“One of the things we like to see is youth empowerment, and today is a clear manifestation that BMMC Management is willing to work with young people of Grand Cape Mount County. Two weeks ago, we launched this cleaning initiative for young people in Kinjor and other affected communities for them to be able to earn something for the festive season. So, on behalf of Senior Management we present to you this amount to give to those that participated in the cleaning up initiative”
Speaking on behalf of the young people, the Youth Chairman of Kinjor Winston Korsor thanked the Management of BMMC for the money and food given to them and stated that the goodwill from BMMC will make a significant impart in their lives.
He also commended the Company for the youth empowerment through the cleaning up initiative.
Meanwhile, citizens and stakeholders of Grand Cape Mount County have commended BMMC for its continuous support given to them over the years.
The Clan Chief of Laar Clan Fahn Gbellay, and the Youth Chairman of Gondor Town, Sekou L. Jabbie expressed thanks and appreciation to BMMC for the donation and the cordial working relationship between the community and the company.
