MONROVIA-Police in Monrovia has charged Sawo King Zubah, age 31, with trafficking in persons and forgery, a violation of section 2 (a) and (b) and 15.70 of the new trafficking in persons act and the penal law of Liberia.

Zubah was charged with the crimes due to his involvement in the recruiting of a Liberian, Lisa Menhan to Oman who is currently in a state of slavery.

Defendant Zubah and his cohort who is residing in Oman violated the human rights of Lisa Menhan in January of 2022.

According to the complainant, Stanley Kollie, in January 2022, his wife Lisa was allegedly transported to Oman, Asia by defendant Zubah and a lady to be identified with the promise that she would work and earn a worthy salary that would change her life.

Defendant Zubah who lives in the same community with the victim, told her he (Zubah) had a travel opportunity for his (Kollie’s) wife, Lisa who currently lives in Oman, Asia.

The victim’s husband furthered that the defendant asked her to process her travel document (passport) and bring the same to him.

Kollie averred that his wife processed her passport and gave it to the defendant who subsequently sends the documents to a lady to be identified in Oman.

In addition to the documents, the victim was made to pay US$250.00 to defendant Zubah prior to her departure to Oman.

The police charge sheet revealed that Zubah willfully and purposely conspired with his cohort and trafficked the victim to Oman; hence he had been charged and sent to prison while the case is the pending trial.
