LWSC, MFDP Overcrowded

Payrolls of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) and other line ministries and agencies arfe said to be swelling due to the influx of partisans of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

According to sources within those entities who begged not to be named prior to this administration, the payrolls of those ministries and agencies were not huge as compared to this administration.

Investigation carried out by this paper showed that this action on the part of the CDC administration is greatly the wage bill of the new government.

Our reporter who carried out his investigation visited several government ministries and agencies, but paramount among those visited was the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) and the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC).

According to our reporter, employees at the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) who confided in this paper, but begged not to be named said various offices at those entities are so packed.

Our sources alleged that there are over fourteen persons in one office that has only four desks with about five persons doing one job, thus, employees only come and sign in and out, but doing nothing.

“Hmm…we about fifteen persons in our office with four desks, two of which belong to our two bosses, and if you don’t come as soon as possible to be able to have a seat in the office to work for that day, you will have to only sign and leave or be around the building,” our source said.

Another source also revealed that there are huge salary disparities in the salary structure among the new employees and the old employees at the entity.

Our sources claimed that the new employees under the CDC led administration are making around four hundred, and fifty United States dollars as pay while old employees make about two hundred and eighty United States dollars, even though they all doing the same kind of work.

“Another thing that is happening again is that the new people they brought in are making more money than those of us that been at the LWSC for a very long time, but what management told us is that they have increased all employees’ salaries but ours is yet to take effect,” our sources stressed.

For the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), our sources said the issue of over crowdedness is so high, noting that offices are now congested due to the number of persons occupying those offices unlike in the past.

When contacted, senior employee of the LWSC who spoke but said he wasn’t the right person to such matter said the allegations by the employees are all lies and shouldn’t be taken serious.
