LIBTELCO To Host National Cyber Conference

-Cyber Security, Threats To Be Discussed

In an effort to improve the technological sector of the country and to provide the conducive space in the country, a two-day national cyber conference will take place in Monrovia Tuesday April 17, 2019.

According to the Business Development Director of LIBTELCO Ralph Sonkarlay, about three hundred participants ranging from cross section of the society will form part of the national forum.

The forum second of its kind in the country will focus on several key issues to include: Data Security, Cyber Security, Cyber Crimes and many others.

The forum will provide participants the opportunity to learn how to prevent cyber-crimes, Data Security and many others with the hope of protecting the country through these threats and global challenges in the future.

Currently LIBTELCO as part of its rebranding initiative is providing community education and awareness to the public on the importance of preventing threats associated with these issues.

The Corporation has so far set up Liberia’s first Government network where over one hundred government line ministries and agencies are benefiting including the setting up of the national data center.

Mr. Sonkarly told reporters that unlike in the past they have put in place all measures to help improve the system including their services.

“We are up to the task and rendering professional, efficient and affordable services across Montserrado County and we are committed to reliable customer services,” added Jay Kesselee Fatormah, Customer Relationship Director.

He pointed that it is time to approach security from a holistic point for the benefit of all.

Mr. Fatormah wants proper mechanism to be put in place to help protect the looseness of information in the public sector; something he noted is as a result of the lack of internet security, this he noted should be protected soon.

As for G. Adolphus Bowier, Director of Engineering and Planning, he brags that they have up to date an international engineering setup to meet up with the demands of the public.

He said they have noticed that not many people are fully aware about the proper usage of their services as such; they are placing more emphasis on community engagement and training of their staff to in return build the capacity of their many clients.

“Banking, Security, Financial sectors are also key areas of concentration he added, due to their strategic roles in the society,” he added.

LIBTELCO, a commercial arm of government in the professional service delivery in the technological sector of Liberia is said to be committed to the digital transformation of the government and the country at large.

More capacity building of beneficiaries in the sector is key for the overall development of the nation as the upcoming forum will help address some of the challenges in the sector as well as helping to improve it.
