-Over Girl Reportedly Gang Raped To Death

Liberians across Monrovia have lamented the death of a 15-year old girl who was gang raped to death in the township of New Georgia in Monrovia.

The death news of the girl was the center of major discussions on various radio stations Monday as several callers on these radio stations expressed serious dismay.

Calling on various radio talkshows Monday December 17, 2018, Liberians expressed serious dismay over the rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl name withheld in the New Georgia township last week.

According to family sources, the lifeless body of the girl was discovered near her parents’ home on Friday morning. They recounted that she had reportedly left for a party with friends on Thursday night.

Police spokesman Moses Carter has earlier told the BBC Liberia’s Correspondent, Jonathan Paye-Layleh that a forensic investigation found that the girl was gang raped.

Meanwhile, two people have since been invited to provide information as part of the police investigation.

In Liberia, cases like this have in the past failed to bring perpetrators to justice due to investigation lapses.

However, the girl’s parents want the Liberian Government to use their daughter’s horrific assault and murder to crack down on rape, a menace that has failed to go away despite the strengthening of the anti-rape law under the administration of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
