Monrovia- A civil rights advocate Patrick Sowah is recommending that the Liberian Government build homeless structures to accommodate at-risk youths across the country.

According to him, young people who are living in the cemetery and other open areas are not normal for those guys to be sleeping in such areas.

Appearing on a local radio station in Monrovia yesterday, Mr. Sowah who Works at Northern State University said it is vital for the government to get homeless centers for the at-risk youths stressing that it is not too expensive for the government to undertake such development.

Mr. Sowah said government needs to get those centers and place the at-risk youths who are homeless in the center and invite him and others to do a dynastic assessment of their health condition.

He said the Liberian Government needs to provide food, clothes, and medication in the center for affected young people so that they will no longer be in the position to go out there to take in the narcotic substances.

Mr. Sowah furthered that if the government provides these centers with needy support, the at-risk youths would not be vulnerable to drugs because they will not be able to get out of the centers.

He said government can get direct support and professionals to take care of them stressing that they will call cycle outpatients including him. He indicated that he can be in the United States and do a dynastic assessment that will enable them to know the level of mental illness.

According to him, the dynastic assessment will enable them to prepare a treatment plan for the mental health professionals to provide psychological and take care of them.

He said most of those at-risk youths are willing to be taken off the streets emphasizing that they need homes food, and medication.

Mr. Sowah added that the situation that the at-risk youths are undergoing are not normal noting that they need to be taken care of because they are human beings.

He added, “They are our brothers and sisters; they are struggling to get food to eat, we have to help them.”
