Monrovia-The Renaissance Consulting and Development Institute (ReCDI) had concluded a two-day rigorous leadership and empowerment conference in Paynesville.

MonroviaThe Renaissance Consulting and Development Institute (ReCDI) had concluded a two-day rigorous leadership and empowerment conference in Paynesville.  

Speaking during the opening of the conference, the Co-Chairperson of the Organization Board, Leelai Kpukuyou   said leadership is key to empowerment, stressing that, “If people are empowered without having the relevant tools to guide them in terms   of leadership, that empowerment  will not be sustained.“

The former Secretary of the Liberian Business Association asserted that it is time for Liberians to reevaluate leadership in all sectors, stressing that the public needs to understand the characteristics of leaders.

According to her, leadership is not a position or title but the ability to possess such characteristic to allow a leader to create an impact that is needing noting that such characteristics include the ability to communicate adequately with those whom a leader is leading, with the understanding that such leaders are not superior to those whom he or she is leading.

She further disclosed that a leader needs to communicate with those who he or she leads but first analyze the situation and take the conclusion to his or her people through communication and ensure that they understand such vision before moving forward with other action.

ReCDI Co-Chairperson further told leaders that if an opportunity is given to lead, it is not because of such individual academic credentials but because of trust that those whom he or she is going to lead give him or her the right judgment in an appropriate timely and relevant manual.

“Leadership is about Selfe, if you do cannot conduct yourself such that you are showing leadership within yourself in life, you cannot lead anybody,” she noted.

She also urged members of the legislature, especially the House of Representatives to work in the interest of the Liberian People.

Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer John Gray, disclosed that the leadership and empowerment conference was the board’s decision to empower people in five thematic areas that included strategic leadership training, agribusiness, community service and peace-building, business development, and entrepreneurship, among others.

He also expressed gratitude to the board of the organization for ensuring that the conference was conducted, including the speakers and the participants.
