Grand Kru County- Welthungerhilfe (WHH) has officially turned over the rehabilitated Rally Town Hospital and symbolically handed over four newly constructed health facilities in Bargblor, Kilepo, Kwitatuzon, and Jaytiken to the Ministry of Health recently.
The project was implemented by WHH with funding from the German Government through KFW. This development marked a step in enhancing healthcare delivery in Grand Kru County, providing improved access to essential medical services for thousands of residents.
Speaking at the turnover ceremony, Health Minister, Dr. Louise M. Kpoto expressed the importance of robust
healthcare systems in improving community welfare. “This project exemplifies the power of partnership in creating sustainable solutions to healthcare challenges. The rehabilitated hospital and newly built facilities will save lives and strengthen resilience in Grand Kru County,” she said.
German Ambassador to Liberia, DDrJakob Haselhuber, reaffirmed continued commitment to collaborating with Liberia in key development areas, including healthcare. “It is an honour to be here in the Southeast today. I extend my gratitude to the residents of Grand Kru County for their collaborative efforts in completing the Rally Town Hospital rehabilitation. The German Government remains dedicated to working with Liberia to ensure the delivery of essential health services,” Ambassador Jakob Haselhuber stated.
Grand Kru Senator, Numene T.H. Bartekwa, expressed appreciation for the initiative, highlighting its potential to revolutionize healthcare access in the region. Fully renovated, the Rally Town Hospital is positioned to serve as a referral center for the county, equipped to handle pressing medical needs. Additionally, the four health facilities strategically located in rural communities will bring essential services closer to the people, reducing travel times and enhancing healthcare accessibility.
The project aligns with Liberia’s national goals of improving healthcare service delivery and achieving universal health coverage.
