Monrovia -The Head of the Liberia delegation to the ECOWAS Parliament, Bomi County Senator Edwin Snowe has vowed to protect the delegation members.

According to Senator Snowe, the recall of three of the members of the delegation from the parliament will be impossible in line with the parliament rules.

Recently, the majority bloc of the House of Representativessupporting Richard Nagbe Koon elected new members to the ECOWAS Parliament. The newly appointed members are Moima Briggs-Mensah, Augustine B. Chiewolo, andSamson Q. Wiah.
Speaking  on Ok FM yesterday from Nigeria, Senator Snowe indicated that when  the political tension intensified at the House of Representative, ECOWAS requested him (Snowe) to facilitate the meeting with the delegation and both the minority and majority.

He added, “When they wrote me to facilitate the meeting during Plenary, they turned their report the Speaker of the parliament so during that brief presentation, I explained the historicity of the issue then I also mentioned that up till now the problem has not been resolved and even the majority block will be recalling its members of the House of Representatives to the ECOWAS Parliament, so when I mentioned this, it changed the debate that the issue of recalled was not possible.”

Senator Snowe said per the rules of the ECOWAS Parliament, delegates who are inducted can only be recalled when such representative is no longer member of that country’s parliament.

According to him, a member can be replaced when there is a new opening of parliament with new members from the various states who will be inducted. He added that they will be members up to the end of the parliament.

Snowe a long-serving member of the ECOWAS Parliament further disclosed that he is in full support of the rule of law and will do everything to protect his delegation at the ECOWAS Parliament and those who are on the side of the rule of law but will not be a faction as has been speculated.
